Angry Quad

Since we spoke last, I did end up getting in my 9 miler and it went well:)  I felt good and didn’t even fuel.  I ran to a park 4.5 miles away, drank out of the water fountain for hydration and headed back home.  The pace was pretty good although it would be nice to be back to my fast pace of 2 years ago, but I’m working on it;)

Sadly my 7 miler didn’t go as well yesterday:(  Don’t you hate it when you have a good run and then have one that is slower, shorter, and waaaay harder?!  Ugh!  Oh well, it happens.  The next one will be better:)  Unfortunately, my left quad is not very happy with me after my run yesterday.  Not sure what I did, but I will keep an eye on it and take it easy in the hopes it will feel better by tomorrow.  I’m planning for a 5 miler and would really like to get it in without injury.

In other news, my son has been doing well in his track meets.  Here is a video of his 1st place finish in the 100m.

He had a track meet yesterday and came in 2nd in the 100m.  I have given up on trying to get a good video of his races.  The above video was taken by my husband;)

The weather here in WA is slowly getting better and better.  After a hail/thunder/lightening storm on Tuesday, we are looking at sunny and 70’s for the rest of the week!  Yay!

How is your weather looking?  Ready for summer?  Any races on the calendar?

Have a great day and happy running!

Three Things Thursday

1.  After taking Monday and Tuesday off from working out after my half on Sunday, I was back at it yesterday.  I ended up running about 2.5 miles and walking 6 all split up into 3 different segments of the day.

2.  I remember thinking at the 6 or 7 mile mark of my last half that I was not going to do it again.  Yes, I felt that bad:/  But of course I am back on the racing wagon again.  Well, I was pretty much back on the wagon an hour after I finished, but now I am ready to sign up for another one.  I think I am going to try the Snohomish River Run again.  Although my last experience wasn’t great, I think it was mostly weather related, so I am willing to give it another shot.

3.  Teenagers are a serious trip.  I mean how can every single thing that comes out of my mouth be so annoying?  I played a joke on my oldest yesterday telling him that I was going to chaperone field day today;)  Let’s just say he wasn’t happy.  He finally told me to just make sure I didn’t talk to any of his friends;)  Then I told him I was joking and he was so relieved.  I honestly don’t think I am that embarrassing.  At least my youngest still likes to hang around me:)

This might be why I am so annoying;)

That’s all for now but here is a random pic of Rocky in a really awkward position;)  I don’t know how he can sleep like this!

Three Things Thursday

Well I hope some of you are getting some sun where you are.  It’s cloudy and wet here and I miss the sun from last week so much!  Here are my 3 things for today.

1.  I am sick and haven’t worked out since Sunday at Beat the Bridge!  Ugh, I feel like a blob of inactivity.  But, I am visiting my sister in law, Claire in Arizona next week and I need to make sure I am healthy for the trip.  It’s no fun to be sick on a plane:/  I am thinking about testing out my bootcamp plan for Saturday and hope I can make it all the way through without coughing up a lung;)

2.  I am feeling a bit nervous because I am going to Arizona next week and have a half marathon 2 days after I get back!  EEK!  Like I said above I haven’t been able to workout or run since Sunday, I will be out of town, and then I will get back and have to run 13.1.  Then the next weekend is my 1st ever Mud Run!  I am feeling really unprepared, but I guess I will just wing it.  I have done it before.

3.  There are only 3 more weeks of school left before summer break and I am so excited!  It’s hard to keep plugging along and making the kids do homework etc.  when the finish line is so close.  I can’t wait to have the kids out of school so we can hit the trails together.  Now that they are older and want to be with their friends more, I might have to get some more kids to come with us to make it more “fun”:)  Anything to keep the kids on the trails!

So, have you ever had to wing it for a race?  How did it end up?  Do you have a hard time pushing through to the end when school is almost out?  What is the 1st thing you plan to do when school is out?  And for those of you without kids/summer break, what do you plan to do to celebrate summer?

Here is a pic just for the fun of it:)  You are welcome!

Have a great day and happy running!
