Good Run and Good Deal

Things are looking up on the running front!  I know there is no way I will PR my half marathon in June, but my speed is slowly but surely improving.  I had a 7 mile group run this weekend and I feel good about my progress:)

5-16-2015Although it’s no where near my pace from 2012, I am confident I will get back there eventually:)  I just love the ladies in my running group.  Isn’t it great when you find a group of ladies that all get along and are positive and uplifting?  Although we don’t all run at the same pace and usually only start together, it’s nice to see eachother in the beginning and the end:)

Missing a few of our ladies;)

After my run I headed to the pet store to find some new shoes for Rocky.  He has allergies and, even with allergy meds, he scratches constantly.  I have found that if he wears shoes on his back feet, his skin is protected from the scratching.  So, long story short, I found an amazing deal on shoes!  Regularly priced at $34.99, the shoes rang up at $8.77!  I couldn’t believe it!  They weren’t even marked as clearance which I thought was weird.  So, after I checked to make sure they fit Rocky, I headed back and bought the last 3 sets they had in stock:)  He should be set for a while now.

shoesFinding a great deal is one of my favorite things!

Last but not least, I finally put flowers in my outdoor pots and they look so pretty:)  My next plan is to plant veggies in our large planter area in our backyard.  But, I need to research when to plant and what to plant before I get started.  The only thing I have ever planted is tomatoes and they haven’t done so well the last couple of years:(

What is the last great deal you have found that excited you?  Do you have any experience with planting and growing veggies?  What is your favorite veggie/fruit to grow in your garden?

Have a great day and happy running!

Brooks Madness

I was so excited last week because the Brooks outlet that it 5 minutes from my house was having their annual truckload sale!!  They were having their Brooks Adrenalines on sale for $49.99 and everything else on big discount as well.  So, on Friday morning, the day the sale started, I was up and ready to go.  I expected crowds but nothing like what I was met with when I entered their parking lot.  Crazy!  The entire parking lot, that is usually fairly empty, was completely full!  I almost couldn’t find a spot.

I got out of my car and saw hundreds of people with bags full of clothing and shoes already in line to purchase their stuff.  I immediately felt overwhelmed.  I don’t love crowds and I especially have a hard time making decisions when I am surrounded by hundreds of people.  I couldn’t even think.  So, guess what I did, I left!

Ugh!  I know, it’s terrible.  But, I felt like I would rather spend more $$ and shop in peace than save $$ and be totally overwhelmed and stressed.  It just wasn’t worth it to me.  Sad to say I didn’t leave with any deals and no new shoes, not that I needed them anyways;)

The sale ended on Sunday, so I may go back today and see if they have anything good left;)

In other news, after feeling sluggish all morning yesterday, I decided to suck it up and get some yard work done.   Then I did my “Box” workout in the garage.

After receiving my “Embrace the Hill” t-shirt in the mail, how could I not get up and get moving?!  I don’t know if you have seen “Run Far Girl” on Instagram or if you read her blog.  But, she was selling t-shirts to raise money for Children’s Hospital at Dartmoth-Hitchcock.  I couldn’t pass up purchasing one.  I just love the message to Embrace the Hill.  I mean, everyone has challenges in life.  Some have more than others, but we need to learn to embrace those challenges, and when we do, we only become stronger:)

I have learned in life to embrace the hills, literally and figuratively.  Today, hills are my friends, not my enemies;)  I definitely embrace them instead of dread them, in most cases;)

embrace the hills

Found this little guy while pulling weeds yesterday. Sadly I could only get a pic of his butt;)

So, do you embrace the hills or avoid them?  Would you have fought the crowds to get the deals?

Have a great day and happy running!
